Road Pony

● Session 01  ·  Filmed at The Music Room, Erie, Colorado

The artist

Road Pony started in a car. Driving up to Basalt for a show in December 2024, Megan Burtt and Lauren Frihauf got to talking about how fun it would be to start a country band, and then went and did it.

Two voices out front in harmony, and a sound their own site puts as “more twang than a banjo at a family reunion.” Worn boots and open skies, with Hank Williams and Loretta Lynn somewhere behind it. Frihauf calls it a side project that has let them write a lot of songs and play rooms their own projects would not have reached.

The songs run on long roads, wildfire and flood, and carrying on anyway. They have played FoCoMX, the Longmont Museum summer series and Yellow Barn Farm; look for “Coyotes in the Canyon” and “Hang Your Weary Heart.”
