Pink Lady Monster

● Session 09  ·  Filmed at The Music Room, Erie, Colorado

The artist

Pink Lady Monster are a Denver six-piece playing post-punk and no wave, free-jazz saxophone squalls over wiry guitar and rubbery dub bass, fractured rhythms, words that lean toward the absurd. They name A Certain Ratio, Bush Tetras, Delta 5 and the B-52s, and the band grew out of live improvisation rather than a plan.

Simone Fohrman, who performs as Serpentine Ludicrous, started the project with bassist Savanna Johnson around 2020; the six-piece came together in 2024. Their album Ponk arrived in July 2025. They are regulars at the hi-dive and the Skylark on South Broadway, and have opened for Quintron and Miss Pussycat.

“We had this chemistry where we were all on the same wavelength,” Simone told Westword, “and it just naturally got weird.”
